Anna Rose Holmer is a filmmaker known for her kinetic, visual storytelling which Rolling Stone called “cinema poetry in motion.” Her debut feature THE FITS won her artistic distinction as a Film Independent Spirit Award “Someone to Watch" winner.

THE FITS, a dreamy coming-of-age drama, premiered at the Venice International Film Festival and screened at the Sundance Film Festival. It won the Critics Award at the Deauville Film Festival and was nominated for Breakthrough Director at the Gotham Awards. 

Anna’s sophomore feature GOD’S CREATURES, a psychological drama from A24 starring Emily Watson and Paul Mescal, was directed as a team with frequent collaborator Saela Davis and premiered at Directors' Fortnight during the Cannes Film Festival. It garnered five nominations at the British Independent Film Awards as well as five nominations at the Irish Film & Television Academy Awards, including Best Film. 

Anna was the first guest director invited to work on Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij's iconic mystery series THE OA, making her television directing debut on Part II of the Netflix show. She’s collaborated across forms and formats as a director, producer, writer and camerawoman, and has created multiple dance-focused films for both the New York City Ballet and Alvin Ailey Dance Theater. Her short form work has been featured on Nowness, Pitchfork and has been nominated for a Webby award. Her promo piece for Kyle Abraham's LOVE LETTER (ON SHUFFLE) recently won Silver at the 2024 Clios.
