Anna Rose Holmer is an independent filmmaker based in Brooklyn, New York. Anna’s body of work has screened nationally and internationally to critical acclaim, including artistic distinction as an Independent Spirit Award Someone to Watch winner and one of Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film.

She’s collaborated across forms and formats as a director, producer, writer and camerawoman, and has created multiple dance-focused films for both the New York City Ballet and Alvin Ailey Dance Theater. Her short form work has been featured on Nowness, Pitchfork and has been nominated for a Webby award. Her promo piece for Kyle Abraham's LOVE LETTER (ON SHUFFLE) recently won Silver at the 2024 Clios.

Anna’s esteemed feature debut THE FITS premiered at the 2015 Venice International Film Festival and screened at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. It was nominated for Breakthrough Director at the 2016 Gotham Awards and Best First Feature at the 2017 Independent Spirit Awards, and won the Critics Award at the 2017 Deauville Film Festival. 

Anna’s sophomore feature GOD’S CREATURES was directed as a team with frequent collaborator Saela Davis and premiered at Directors' Fortnight during the 2022 Cannes Film Festival. It was released by A24 to critical acclaim and garnered five nominations at the British Independent Film Awards, including Best Lead Performance by Emily Watson and Best Supporting Performances by Paul Mescal and Aisling Franciosi as well as five nominations at the Irish Film & Television Academy Awards, including Best Film 2023. 

She is currently in development on her next feature film.
